With over 20 years of teaching experience, Martin has students of all ages and levels. He teaches weekly at the Kelowna Community Music School and the Kamloops Symphony Music School. Using a variety of methods and books, especially in the beginning (RCM, Suzuki, Sassmanhaus, Scaley Monsters, etc.), Martin has prepared his students for RCM exams, festivals, auditions, recitals, and community performances. Fostering a safe space to create and be curious - finding ease and joy in the process - these are the values at the heart of Martin’s teaching. Martin also coaches advanced chamber music groups, and runs a community cello ensemble in Kamloops. Relating to every student as an equal, Martin listens to and learns from each of them, and is privileged to be part of their musical journey.
